Challenging Cases. ‘Not Guilty’ Verdicts

Alex Deardorff was hired in 2020 for a client who was charged in a 9-count indictment, including engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity with firearm specifications, burglary, grand theft auto and receiving stolen property. The indictment carried over 20 years in prison. After an extensive investigation, The State of Ohio ultimately dismissed 8 of the 9 counts in the indictment. On October 28th, 2021, Alex and her client received a Not Guilty Verdict on a charge of Domestic Violence where her client was wrongly accused. This was in Hamilton County Municipal Court.

Today, after two weeks of trial, a Hamilton County returned not guilty verdicts on all five counts in the indictment, which were: aggravated murder, murder, murder, felonious assault and having a weapon while under a disability. After eighteen months of our client sitting in the jail waiting for trial, today he goes home.

Today in Hamilton County Juvenile Court, Alex resumed a felony trial that began several weeks ago. The charges were having weapons while under disability, improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle and receiving stolen property.
